DAY 01: Arrival in Negombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to Negombo. Enjoy a short visit around Negombo city, exploring its colonial heritage, lively fish market, and charming canals, before checking in to your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure relaxing
at the hotel.

After breakfast, depart for Wilpattu, one of the country’s most important wildlife regions. En route, stop at Anawilundawa Wetland Sanctuary, a protected RAMSAR site famous for migratory and resident birdlife. Continue to Wilpattu, where the wilderness atmosphere sets the tone for thecoming days.

Spend the morning on safari inside Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest national park. With its unique landscape of natural lakes, Wilpattu is home to elephants, sloth bears, leopards, and abundant bird species.

Travel toward Sigiriya, stopping along the way for a village encounter that introduces you to traditional rural life. Later, enjoy a jeep safari at Minneriya National Park, renowned for its large herds of wild elephants. In the evening, visit a silk textile outlet to learn about the weaving process and explore beautifully crafted fabrics before arriving in Sigiriya.

Rise early to climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient royal citadel famed for its frescoes, landscaped gardens, and sweeping views from the summit. Continue your journey toward Kandy, stopping at a spice garden in Matale to learn about Sri Lanka’s aromatic spices and their traditional uses. Upon arrival in Kandy, visit a gem shop to discover the island’s precious stones and their long history, followed by a craft shop showcasing traditional artistry. In the evening, attend a lively cultural dance performance, featuring drumming, vibrant costumes, and Kandyan heritage.

Today’s journey passes through lush countryside. Begin the day with a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, renowned for orchids and tropical plants. En route to Nuwara Eliya, stop at a tea plantation to learn about the history and process of Ceylon tea, before pausing at Ramboda Falls.

Set out early for Horton Plains National Park, where misty grasslands and cloud forests create a unique ecosystem. Trek to Baker’s Falls and admire the dramatic escarpments of World’s End before returning to Nuwara Eliya for the evening.

Travel south via Ella, stopping to admire iconic sites including the Nine Arches Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak, and Ravana Falls. Continue on to Udawalawe, famous for its elephant population and open landscapes.
