Nature Lovers, Active Travellers, Hiking Enthusiasts
On arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and transferred to Negombo. Spend the rest of the day relaxing by the coast and recovering from your flight in this lively fishing town.
Travel inland toward Sigiriya, with a stop at the Yapahuwa Rock Fortress, a 13th-century citadel known for its dramatic stairway and hilltop views. Continue to Sigiriya and check in to your hotel.
Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the morning, where ancient ruins, frescoes, and panoramic views await. In the afternoon, set out on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for its elephants and birdlife.
Today’s journey takes you to Matale. Along the way, explore the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple, with its vast rock-cut shrines. Continue to Nalanda Gedige, a fascinating stone temple blending Hindu and Buddhist influences. End the day with a visit to a spice garden before arriving at your hotel in Matale.
Venture into the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Explore the Moragahakanda Dam and trek across open grasslands at Pitawala Pathana. Continue hiking through Riverstone, where misty peaks and scenic trails provide a memorable nature experience. Return to Matale for the evening.
Travel to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka. Visit a local Hindu temple before exploring the city. Pay homage at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the island’s most revered religious sites. Later, enjoy a visit to a gem shop, where you’ll be introduced to Sri Lanka’s famous sapphires and other precious stones, followed by a stop at a craft shop showcasing traditional artistry. A short Kandy city tour rounds off the day.
Begin with a morning visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, admired for orchids, palms, and tropical flora. Then travel south, stopping at Kitulgala for an exciting white-water rafting experience. Continue to Hatton, where you will rest before the next day’s climb.
An early start takes you to Nallathanniya, the starting point for the climb of Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada). This sacred mountain has been a pilgrimage site for centuries and rewards hikers with incredible views at sunrise. Descend and return to Hatton for rest.
Take the scenic train journey from Hatton to Ella, passing through lush tea plantations, misty hills, and tunnels. On arrival, enjoy a leisurely walking tour of Ella town and its relaxed atmosphere.
Spend the day exploring Ella’s highlights. Begin with a hike to Ella Rock for panoramic views, then visit the Nine Arches Bridge, a marvel of colonial railway engineering. Continue to Little Adam’s Peak and the cascading Ravana Falls.
Travel south to Udawalawe and embark on an afternoon safari in Udawalawe National Park, one of the best places in Asia to see wild elephants. The park also shelters deer, buffalo, and abundant birdlife.
Journey into the UNESCO-listed Sinharaja Rainforest, Sri Lanka’s last primary tropical rainforest. Spend the rest of the day at leisure in your rainforest lodge, surrounded by nature.
